Scount Pack 774Please contact Dave Callender if you can give us a hand for a small bike rodeo for Cub Scout Pack 774 at Flora Vista Elementary School.  There will be 6 groups of boys as they rotate through the various booth/events. 40-50 kids and their families

We will be meeting at the back of El Camino Bike Shop at 10am and expect to be at Flora Vista by 10:30am.  The event should be over by 12:30pm.  If you are looking to get a ride in before the event, feel free to join us directly at the Bike Rodeo.  I am sure the Scouts will get a kick out of seeing you in all your spandex glory.

Thanks for the response for the Bike Rodeo  with Cub Scout Pack 774 at Flora Vista Elementary School.  I would like us to meet at the back door of El Camino Bike Shop at 9:30am to organize ourselves.  The following people have volunteered:

Joe Pusl /  Erik C / Randy W / Dave C / Lou M.

Chris E is a possible and our needed pro wrench…

We could use a few more, but we are OK.  If you want to see what these Bike Rodeos are all about but cannot meet us at 9:30 you can still come by Flora Vista until 11:30am and still give us a hand.  Email me if you want to participate

Found this on RBR’s website. OUCH. Come into the shop and get bar end plugs if you are missing any

  • Quick Tip: This week’s words of wisdom come from Edward Fink, M.D., avid roadie and orthopedic surgeon at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

“You have mentioned several times the need to keep handlebar plugs installed to prevent injuries,” Dr. Fink writes. “I think RBR readers may take notice with this radiograph.

X-ray showing hole in pelvis caused by unplugged handlebar end.

“It is from a 13-year-old girl who was riding a bike with no handlebar plugs when she fell. The handlebar impaled her pelvis, fortunately missing internal organs. And fortunately, the injury — the round hole on the left (with the arrow pointing to it) — healed without any problems.”

Check your bar plugs to make sure they’re secure. If one or both should be missing, invest some pocket change at your LBS. In a crash, an unplugged bar end could take a core sample from a thigh or even a kidney.

John Felt, Swami cyclist and Guru of PR, will be providing bike medals to all participants of Swamis Bike Rodeo & Bike Safety Check. All kids that participate will have a chance to have their picture taken with their medal on the Winners Podium.
