Road bike needed work so I decided to explore the San Elijo Area. I used my Droid and Google’s My Tracks.  My Tracks uploads the info to Google Docs and Maps so that I can then annotate the info.  I am hoping I will use this application to document the La Costa Hills / San Elijo Areas

There are a great number of small sections of technical trials in the San Elijo community. It also looks like there may be some potential S.E. of the center of San Elijo. Check out the map below:

We have a new “published” time for the Double Peak Dr time trial—19.47 by Ryan Dahl. If you don’t know the course—start at the 45mph sign @ Melrose Dr and San Elijo Rd, climb SER and turn left on Double Peak, finish @ very top parking lot. Give it a shot!

This idea started with Brian K and Mike T discussion their times for riding up to Double Peak from each side of Twin Oaks. Mike starting from San Elijo and Brian starting from CSSM.
Times:
Twin Oaks Blvd to Parking lot on top of Double Peak
Mike T – 7:02

San Elijo and Melrose to top of Double Peak
Brian K – 18:21

So where are the Start / Stop points? Obviously the Stop is the top of Double Peak. But where do the climbs start….

Let the records begin

Merci asked about fast bike routes to Downtown. This is the fastest way to Downtown from Encinitas that I know. I used google maps and the only issue is that I could not get the direction update to understand there is a bike path at the end of Gilman. So instead the direction function changed the route to a out of the roads up into University City and Bay Ho. Disregard this part of the directions

Here is the zoom of the start and end of the bike path I am talking about- Take this instead.

Finally we do not have to ride on I-15 to go from Poway to Escondido.

…Officially known as the David Kreitzer Lake Hodges Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge, the span will be an alternate route for cyclists who brave the I-15 bridge over Lake Hodges. The south entrance to the bridge is just off Pomerado Road, and a mile-long paved path connects the bride’s north end with Sunset Drive…
