Team RadioShack’s Chris Horner 9th in UCI World Rankings

Local Chris Horner is already lighting it up for Team RadioShack.  So far, he has already brought home TRS’s first major victory and three other top 10 finishes, including:

  • 1st – Tour of the Basque Country
  • 10th – Amstel Gold
  • 7th – Fleche Wallone
  • 8th – Liege-Bastoqne-Liege

These results have place him 8th in the UCI rankings for the 2010 season, right on the heels of Contador, Cancellara, and Boonen.  It’s great to see Horner in top form this year, especially after his previous season plagued with crashed and injuries.

Be sure to read the post on the Team RadioShack Fan Site about Horner, and visit the official Team RadioShack website at Livestrong.com for team results and news.  You can also follow Horner on Facebook, Twitter, and his blog at oregonlive.com.

Fake Red Bicyclette Pinot Noir: French Swindlers Found Guilty

French Customs officials discovered in 2008, that for a period of at least three-years, about 13.5 million liters of mislabeled wine had been sold to Gallo. Members of the Languedoc wine industry illegally cut the fake Pinot Noir with cheaper vintages of Merlot and Syrah.

Six of the 12 French winemakers were handed suspended prison sentences and fines, and the others were made to pay hefty fines.

The Sieur d’Arques trading firm of Limoux was ordered to pay 180,000 euros and Claude Courset was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 45,000 euros.

E. & J. Gallo, bottled the mislabeled wine for its Red Bicyclette Pinot Noir line. Gallo believes that only the 2006 Pinot Noir and perhaps prior, are actually bottles of cheap red table wine

All –

Just got off the phone with Terry.  He is spending the next two day in St. Augustine FL at the St. Augustine Beach KOA.  This is the official starting point for his journey.  He had an uneventful ride down from Jacksonville Fl.  He rarely saw the Atlantic ocean on his way as the big houses block most of the beach front.  Most exciting part was taking a ferry across a river.

His well packed bike box was opened by the Feds in Denver, but was put back together with no loss of items or breakage.  His bike took a earlier flight from Denver and was waiting for him when he landed in Jacksonville.  We should see the first email and pictures from him today.
